memorializing

we want to remember what is beautiful and forget what is ugly

and these terms are perhaps not definitive because “beauty” is in the eye of the beholder and there is truth in saying that ugliness or sadness or destruction can be beautiful. take for instance a picture from war or an animal pouncing and biting into another animal- the about to die moment- some of these images may seem beautiful & they are for most of us. in a way that touches our deep subconscious. i guess i am describing sublime imagery – sublime as in great grandeur, epic or picturesque moments
